Top 3 Kick-Ass Girls on Television

In the past, strong female characters on television seemed to have been few and far between. Things have definitely changed over the past few years, and now girls of any age can aspire to be like any of the women on my top three most kick-ass girls on T.V. Here they are:

#3. Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones): Now, as many of you know, Dany does not always make the best decisions, but she has some awesome characteristics that give her the number three spot on my list. First of all, she came from very abusive beginnings and turned her misfortunes in her favour. She went from being sold into marriage by her crazy brother to the queen and ruler of three cities. Her subjects adore her and would follow her without question. She gains their trust by being confident, decisive, and compassionate. Plus, she is the mother of dragons… it doesn’t get any cooler than that! Emilia Clarke wasn’t the first casting choice for the role, but we are all so happy she took it on.

#2. Cosima Niehaus (Orphan Black): Ok, one can argue that any of the clones could make this list (they are all bad-ass in their own ways), but Cosima gets extra points for her STEM knowledge and diversity. Not only is she completing her PhD in Experimental Evolutionary Developmental Biology, she is also busy cracking the secrets of the clones’ genome while fighting a devastating respiratory illness. Not to mention all the drama with her ex-girlfriend, Delphine, betraying her trust by being her monitor and working for LEDA. Cosima is intelligent and successful, and is a superhero in her own right. Actress (and fellow Canadian!) Tatiana Maslany, who was part of the Women who Kick Ass panel at last year’s San Diego Comic Con, has done an extraordinary job at bringing all of the clones to life, and deserves an honorable mention!

#1. Peggy Carter (Agent Carter, Captain America): An agent of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, part of the Allied Super Soldier Program, and one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D, Peggy is one powerful woman! She is number one on my list for a few different reasons. First, during the Agent Carter television series timeline, she is living in a very male-dominated world. I loved watching at how she kept her composure and showed up the men she worked with/for during every episode. Second, she is an image of true class, while kicking ass! I love her style and demeanour; she is a true female role model. Finally, she works well with other women. Her relationship with Angie Martinelli (waitress and friend) is so refreshing to see. I always applaud women who are friends with other women; we have enough barriers without putting each other down! It is also worth mentioning that actress Hayley Atwell is also an image of true class, and I can’t wait to see more of her!

So there you have it! There are many other amazing female characters on T.V. nowadays, and it seems that more are popping up every season. If you have any suggestions for another list, feel free to drop me a line! In the meantime, stay awesome, ladies! Thanks for stopping by!
